The “I” and the “Eye”, Paintings, Collages and Mixed Media

“British writer E.M. Forester says, “How do I know what I think until I see what I say. Applied to my visual art, this translates into, “How do I know what I think until I see what I paint.” Like all fine art, my painting is a way of seeing, understanding, and interpreting. When I look inside myself as well as at when I look at the world outside, I see an imagined canvas. And everything I observe and take in is raw material for creating something visual on that canvas. Some of these paintings and collages come from a lyric (discovery) impulse, others from a narrative (storytelling) intent.
In the “I” and the “Eye”, I use acrylic and gloss medium paint, hand made paper, and found objects to express and shape my thoughts and feelings on/about personal experience, as well as about subjects that interest me, like dance, music, film and literature.
